Giving Tuesday Impact - Is it on your To Do List?

It’s been a week since Giving Tuesday. If you haven’t shared how you’ve done - it’s time. With Giving Tuesday being the launch of the Calendar Year End giving season, this gives you the opportunity to steward and cultivate simultaneously. So make sharing your impact story a priority this week.

In crafting your impact story, it doesn't need to be complicated. Here are a few tips:

  • Say Thank You. Express gratitude to the donors who said yes. Be sure to share the number of donors. Thanking is an obvious move for stewardship, but did you know by sharing the number of donors it also might help you cultivate more? Social dynamics is often a motivator for donating, and sharing that they are part of a larger group (or even creating a little FOMO for those who missed the opportunity) could help with future donations.

  • Be Specific. Share not just the dollars raised, but what that means to your organization. How many new scholarships will be offered? How many meals through the food pantry? What programs are now going to be funded? Many donors base their giving on impact and trust - so seeing what you do with their funds may motivate future donations. This rings very true in younger generations.

  • Be Public. Share the impact across multiple channels. Use your crowdfunding platform features to share the impact on the platform and through donor follow-up. Post and share across all of your social media outlets. Add an update on your website. The wider the reach, the better. Your goal should be to make sure your recent donors (and future donors) can see that you are doing good.

And if your Giving Tuesday didn’t exceed all of your expectations, that’s okay. There is still a great story to tell any time you have donors saying yes and supporting the good work that you do!
